Magic For Africa

The essence of the Emerge Foundation is about recapturing the spirit of ubuntu. The spirit of ubuntu is the common bond between us all and the responsibility we have to each other through our bond. It is through our interaction with one another that we discover our own human qualities. Or as the Zulus would say, "Umuntu Ngumuntu Ngabantu" - I am because you are.

Nelson Mandela explained Ubuntu as follows.
"A traveller through our country would stop at a village, and he didn't have to ask for food or for water. Once he stops, the people give him food, entertain him. That is one aspect of Ubuntu but Ubuntu has various aspects. Ubuntu does not mean that people should not enrich themselves. The question therefore is: Are you going to do so in order to enable the community around you to improve?"

As the not-for-profit foundation of the Emerge Group we embrace ubuntu and believe that even the smallest contribution is important to make an improvement in Africa. We encourage our staff, our customers and our partners to work with us to tackle tough social and environmental issues facing Africa.
